CITY GUIDE // FRESNO

CITY GUIDE // FRESNO

Fresno, California is a hardworking town of entrepreneurs, farmers, and a recent resurgence of creatives. A large city with a small-town feel, this place is known for its fantastic food, friendly people, and proximity to all of California's sought-after spots (Yosemite is in our backyard, after all).

Fresno California gate

Not only is this spot a great place to live and visit, it's also where the Patrick James story began. Pat Mon Pere, our patriarch and founder, opened the doors of the first Patrick James store here in 1962. Needless to say, we've had a few years to get to know Fresno's best places to shop, dine, and stay while you're here.

Read on for Patrick James' definitive guide to our hometown.

STAY

The DoubleTree by Hilton
If you're looking to stay in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Fresno, the DoubleTree is the perfect spot. Located in Downtown Fresno on Ventura St., guests have ideal access to the city's creative hub, local restaurants, and more.

Some Tower House
This bohemian Airbnb is nestled in the historic Tower District, a stone's throw from multiple theaters, restaurants, and buzzing nightlife. An eclectic 1914 craftsmen originally built for Dr. George & Jessica Hare, visitors can enjoy a vintage experience, with up to seven guests.

Fresno Hyatt Place

Hyatt Place
Currently being built, this highly anticipated project is set to be one of Fresno's favorite hotels. Located in the busy Northeast corner of town, guests are surrounded by shopping and close to the idyllic Woodward Park.

DINE

Heirloom Restaurant Fresno California

Casual Fare
If you're looking for a quick bite that packs a punch of flavor, the newly opened farm-to-table focused Heirloom Eats is your answer. While you're there, check out their cocktails, specially crafted with house-made liquor infusions. If you're craving BBQ, head over to Westwood's to get your fix with their signature tri-tip sandwich and original sauces.

Classic Dining
Fresno's answer to fine dining, Cracked Pepper is a local favorite that serves up steaks, classic sides, and even escargot. We highly recommend indulging in the famous bread pudding for dessert.

The Elbow Room Fresno California

A Night on the Town
The Elbow Room and The Lime Light are both a stone's throw from our Patrick James store in Fig Garden Village, and we couldn't be happier. They both offer some incredible eats (the Elbow steak sandwich is a Fresno staple), with bar and patio scenes that are simply the place to be after hours.

Italian Essentials
The Tower District's Veni Vidi Vici serves Rustic European dishes, sourcing produce and meat right out of the Central Valley. It's a great spot for a bite before a show. Our other Italian go-to is The Annex Kitchen, led by Chef Jimmy Pardini, who studied under Los Angeles mainstay Nancy Silverton. Handmade pastas including the Food Network-revered Corn Agnolotti are must-haves, while the modern look and feel of the space can't be beat.

SHOP

Patrick James Store Fresno California

Patrick James
We may be biased, but we are proud to serve this community with premium men's fashion from our store in Fig Garden Village. Your favorite brands and tuxedo rentals, paired with our team's hands-on service, Patrick James provides the ultimate shopping experience.

Vondas Fresno California

Vonda's
Situated on the northern end of town, Vonda's has been selling Fresno locals their wedding china and more for decades. Offering multiple lines of entertaining essentials and holiday items, this store is Central California's answer to high-end gift giving.

PLAY

Woodward Park
Woodwark Park serves as a daily piece of nature's beauty in the city of Fresno. Beyond its gates you'll find walking and biking trails, the Shinzen Friendship Garden, the Healing Garden by Art of Life, and space for children and pets - not to mention an outdoor amphitheater that is home to $5 Country Concerts throughout the summer.

Save Mart Center
The hub for most of Fresno's big-ticket events, the Save Mart Center on Shaw Ave hosts everything from Fresno State basketball games to big-name concerts. Don't forget to stop by Dog House across the street for a beer before your show.

EXPLORE

Madera Wine Trail
The Madera Wine Trail is the perfect way to spend your weekend (outside of the golf course). With the Central Valley's rich history in agriculture and prime location for grape growers, it's no surprise that it boasts a great glass of cab.

River Park Shopping Center
River Park is another prime location for hustle and bustle in Fresno. Visit this outdoor shopping center for some familiar restaurants such as Ruth's Chris and Yard House, along with a mix of national stores.

Downtown Fresno Theater Sign

Downtown Fresno Tower District
Nestled between McKinley and Olive streets is Fresno's creative hub, the Tower District. Here you'll find vintage stores, specialty coffee shops, and vibrant nightlife, with live music and dancing every weekend.
